Professional Photo Magazine Street Portraiture Winner

The new Professional Photo Magazine Portrait Contest is now in full swing. Six challenging categories will cover a wide variety of portrait styles, with an overall winner being decided next year. We were super chuffed to find out that Zo’s ‘Vest Man’ had been chosen as the Street Portraiture category winner! We love street photography, so we are really happy to have won this one. Hurrah!

In March 2020, the winners of each category will be considered for the biggie, Portrait Photographer of the Year title. The overall winner is going to be announced at The Photography Show, all mega exciting stuff! (So keep your fingers and toes crossed, eeek!)

Professional Photo Magazine Street Portraiture Winner

ALL HAIL THE VEST MAN – PROFESSIONAL PHOTO STREET PORTRAITURE WINNER!

Here’s a little insight in to how the shot was created. We’d just enjoyed lunch in the sun on Blackpool North Pier. Often there are lots of interesting characters around. Immediately we were drawn to this gentleman and his impressive tan-lines. Zo then got in close and waited for the perfect sun-baked expression. The seascape and surroundings were included to add context and set his blissful scene. The armrests appear to form the same outline almost exactly, adding another level of interest to the composition. It’s said in street photography you create your own luck. Cheers, Vest Man!

Professional Photo Magazine Issue 163 - Street Portrait Winner

“THIS WAS A CLEAR WINNER FOR ME AND IT’S A REALLY WELL OBSERVED SHOT” – JUDGE MARK SEYMOUR

In addition to the accolade and a feature in Professional Photo magazine (Issue 163), each category winner also receives a fab prize. The Street Portraiture category prize was a lovely Trinity Solo Framed Print Block from One Vision Imaging. We use the One Vision crew to fulfil all your print orders in our online shop, so we already know these guys have got the skills.

The Trinity Solo frame is quite a new product. With a cool Matrix/Star Wars name combo like that, we couldn’t wait to get our mitts on one. The photographic print is first mounted onto raised bevelled MDF block. It’s then dropped into a deep set frame creating a clever multi-layered effect. An awesome wall display piece, thanks so much guys!

If you love the Vest Man shot, then don’t miss the rest of our Blackpool Street Photography collection too.
